Heat Resistant Beauty

With the warm weather among us, and a flood of outdoor events and holidays approaching us this summer, it's hard to keep your game face on...literally! As soon as I step out the door into Phoenix's sweltering heat, my makeup always decides to disappear and leave my face looking sweaty and shiny. Definitely not pretty on camera! After testing many products and experimenting with my beauty regimen, I have found that a shine free face is the first step to looking stunning all summer.
Cicely's Beauty Trick-- Face Primers: these make your skin appear matte and absorb excess oil throughout the day. Primers also make your face makeup go on smoothly and evenly. These work wonders for us girls with oily skin.

Smashbox has a great primer which comes in a cheaper and smaller trial size, and also was the Best of Sephora Winner for 2008. $36-$49 at Sephora and Ulta Cosmetics.

Sephora's own line of cosmetics has a Tricks of the Trade: Anti-Shine Primer that works just as great as it's name brand, and pricier, competitors. $18 at Sephora.

I love the Philosophy line, and I am excited to try their primer: Never Let Them See You Shine Velvet Touch Primer. $20 at Sephora and department stores.

My FAVORITE face trick sounds a little gross, but is one of the best kept beauty secrets. Trust me! I learned this from Paula Begoun of the "Don't Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me" book fame. In the morning before you apply your face makeup, soak a cotton ball with unflavored and unscented Milk of Magnesia. Then apply that to your face in just a thin layer. A simple and extremely cheap way to have shine proof skin. Try it out!

The best way to find your perfect primer is to test out some samples and experiment with your unique skin type. Head down to Ulta, Sephora, or Nordstrom and ask to take home some samples of their best selling face primers.
